HONORARY EDITORSHIP OF THE EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF ORTHODONTICS
The current editor is due to complete his term of office in June 2010. It is the intention of the European Orthodontic Society to identify suitable applicants, appoint by committee, and allow parallel development of the individual alongside the present incumbent to permit a stable handover.Currently the journal publishes six issues a year containing over 700 pages of scientific research and has a wide submission base receiving papers from more than 30 countries. The post requires an individual prepared to commit to a minimum of 8 hours per week. Future developments of the journal are possible.
The post, in the first instance, is initially for a period of 7 years, approved annually, and can be developed by the individual in line with charitable and company law. The editor may wish to retain as part of the honorary status of the office and remain as part of Council of the Society as a trustee and director. Alternatively the incumbent may prefer reimbursement; as such they would not be allowed to be a trustee or director but would report to Council when requested. Proposals concerning other potential management opportunities of the post will also be considered.
Attendance may be necessary at meetings of the Council of the EOS and the Annual Congress. The ethos of the Society has always been to promote and support future generations of orthodontists, and the committee will strive to achieve this goal in its appointment. Equally the editor is expected to act altruistically; publications within the EJO by the editor are discouraged.
